MG TD TF 1500 - Stolen MGTD
Hi I've popped over from the midget & Sprite BBS. I was alerted to this via the British Car Forum in the USA and although this is a predomanantly UK based forum (well the midget and Sprite bbs is,anyway), I thought you might keep your ears to the ground. http://www.britishcarforum.com/stolen/Stolen1952MGTD.pdf Thanks Gary L |

Gary, Thanks for posting the up-date! There are quite a few of we "T-Type-People" keeping a look out for these numbers, but I think I speak for all of us to say let's keep this thread alive! Tell Charles & Jennie many of us hope this will make it harder for these rascals to unload the car or part it out and maybe they will just give up, figure out it's too hot and park it somewhere so it gets back to the owners! That's my Christmas wish for the Beard's. Cheers & Merry Christmas, David 55 TF1500 #7427 |

that is a shocking piece of extremely bad news. I hope that one day, since so many of us worldwide now keep an eye on this car, it will pop up again and return to Charles and Jennie. Wish you all the best, Huib Bruijstens |

hmmm ... not quite sure what "National Champion" means??? What a terible loss this must be. Reminds me ... In the late 70s, I knew a chap who stored his alloy XK120 in his trailer for the winter. An attempt to steal the whole rig (the same as the Beard's TD) during a raging blizzard resulted in the trailer hitch and rear of the truck frame and rear axle being completely torn away as the truck tried to make a quick get-away. You see, my friend had wisely anticipated this, and had embedded a huge cement block in the ground with only the heavy loop showing, and this was discretely hidden under the rear of the trailer and securely locked to the rear of the underside of the trailer. You can imagine the surprise when the entire rear axle of the (stealing) truck ended up on the roadway in the middle of a blizzard. It turned out that the thieves were from the Chicago area and were contracted to steal this perticular XK120, and ended up spending 3 years in a Québec jail. They might even have learned to speak French! Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

"ended up spending 3 years in a Québec jail" Just three years for kidnapping one's firstborn? They should be HUNG then SHOT for that. |
