MG TD TF 1500 - Stoneleigh and...........
We are going to the Mg event in Stoneleigh on sunday 24th Februari 2008. This gives the opportunity to visit something MG or British car related items on monday somewhere on the road down from Stoneleigh to Dover. Interesting seems the Morgan car factory in Malvern, the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon (unfortunatly closed on monday in wintertime) or to go for the taste and smell of Abingdon. Any other suggestions from our Uk MG friends? Greetings, Huib |

Hi Huib You could try the Coventry Transport Museum ... http://www.transport-museum.com/ David |

Huib , I've been to Stoneleigh several times ... love it! Have a good time. There's a remote, and I mean remote ... chance that I can go again this year. If so, I'll let you know in pleanty of time. The last time I went (2005), I was supposed to take my bro's car (he lives in London), but at the last moment, it didn't work out. I managed to get to Coventry and hitch-hiked the rest of the way (at 73, not recommended, as I didn't get spotted by the police), but I made it. Met some great people and have been been networking ever since! Have a Happy Christmas. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Huib, Some more ideas for your perusal, the first two take you away from your route to Dover: The National Motorcycle Museum about 12 miles north west of Stoneleigh. http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.co.uk/museum/info.php The Donnington Grand Prix collection about 40 miles north of Stoneleigh. http://www.donington-park.co.uk/gpcollection/admit.asp A private collection in Bedfordshire about 50 miles south east of Stoneleigh. http://www.transportmuseum.co.uk/index.htm Sadly your Sunday at Stoneleigh clashes with the only open day at the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Centre in Coventry (last Sunday each month) Wishing you a great Christmas and a successful visit to Stoneleigh. |

It would appear that the Gaydon Centre is open on the Saturday, if that is any help. |

Thank you for these suggestions. They are certainly worthwile to spend time in. I still wonder if there would not be places to visit in the "greater London area" Gordon, any progress in your travel and hitchhiking plans? Would be a great opportunity to meet upthere. greetings, Huib |

Not looking too good Huib, but I haven't definitely decided. It involves other people and I don't have full control. I'll let you know as soon as I know myself. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

hi, i was also tinking of going to Stoneleigh, we are looking for MG td spares, the questions is, is it a trip worth of going to there from belgium, will we find some mg td spares or are there more spares for the younger mg's like the B and midget. We are looking for mgtd windscreen , rear axle , engine parts serge http://mg-garage.eu/ http://mg-owners-gallery.eu/ http://www.car-identification-plate.eu/ |

hello Serge, maybe this gives you an impression. Snapshots and flavour of the MG Show held at Stoneleigh-Park, Warwickshire, England in February 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkWb3zguwn0 If it fails, go to youtube.com and enter Stoneleigh MG in the searchbox. Greetings, Huib |

Serge, You are right most of the stands deal with 'B' & Midget. If you go, do not miss the Octagon Car Club. My guess on your spares wish list - TD Windscreen, unlikely - TD rear axle , maybe - TD engine parts, some. Good Luck Graham TD/C7822 |

Huib, Definitely can't make it, despite finding a really inexpensive ticket (round trip Montreal/Gatwick = $338 + taxes, Zoom Air). I've just got too much going on. Have a good time - I envy you. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

The MG Octagon Car Club publish a list of their spares - http://www.mgoctagoncarclub.com/spares_menu.htm I'm sure they would bring your order to Stoneleigh with advance notice. I have actually seen a complete rebuilt XPAG engine for sale at Stoneleigh. Can't remember an axle though, although there are quite a lot of autojumble stalls there. David |
