MG TD TF 1500 - SU Carb Swap
Gentlemen, I am still aquiring parts for my '51 TD psuedo race car. I have a set of original 1-1/4" SU carbs that are in poor condition and will need a total rebuild. I have thought about buying a brand new set. After reviewing the offering from Moss, I find I can buy a set of HS4's for an early B at less than half the price of the original TD carbs. Has anyone made this switch? What about differences in linkages? This seems like an interesting alternative for a car that will not be totally original. Thanks. |

Bob: Apple Hydraulics may be able to re-build those original carbs for you. They have a Web site at: http://applehydraulics.com/carbs.htm. I'm not sure what you mean by "pseudo race car", but if you want to stick with the originals, check them out! Good Luck! Jeff Brown |

To fit early B carbs to your XPAG you will require a custom manifold as the flange bolts are angled rather than vertical. (MGA carbs would be better as they will fir to a Late TD or TF manifold which is sized for 1 1/2 inch SU.s |
