MG TD TF 1500 - Sump question
To all, Looking at longitudinal picture of the TF engine, on page A34 of the "MG midget TD TF workshop manual, at the bottom right shows something that looks like a cotter pin. What is it and what is it function? Thanks, Herb |

Herb, That cotter pin 'rattles' in the hole provided. The cotter pin keeps the hole from being clogged with debris, as it is the hole from which excess oil drains from the achimedes scroll which provides the rear oil seal. The scroll is only effective while spinning. On shut down a drop forms... and hangs from the cotter pin, never leaving the pin. At least that's the theory... warmly, dave |
