MG TD TF 1500 - Tail lights not working
I have a 1953 TD. I just noticed that the tail lights do not go on when I turn on the headlights. The brake lights and turn signals work fine. When I do the first click of the light switch none of the parking lights go on, but the lights on the dash go on. Any ideas where the problem is located? Thanks, Bill Chandler billchandler2211@comcast.net |

Bill,
I also had this problem a while back. Looking at the wiring diagram (top of page N.23 in the Workshop Manual), it is cable #41 (red) coming from Lighting Switch, term T, which feeds both L and R tail light filaments, as well as the Number Plate lamp. Cable #41 connects to each light via a Snap Connector (also marked 41 on the diagram). This, and other associated snap connectors are located tucked into the inboard left side chassis frame well back behind the LH rear wheel/axle, under the fuel tank. Check to see if the number plate lamp is also not working when you switch on the headlights. In my case, I found cable#41 coming from the Lighting Switch had disconnected itself from the snap connector. If that's ok, then check to see if the cable has become disconnected from terminal T on the back of the Lighting Switch. Good luck. David |

Thank you David. I will take a look at these locations. Bill |
