MG TD TF 1500 - TC air filter
Any explanation for the holes that a PO I assume made in the air intake of my TC

They are original. http://www.mg-tabc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=313 |

Steve, Link shows as "does not exist" perhaps you could advise. However from your remark I assume they should be there. Cheers Jan |

Strange, isn't it! Why bother to have an air cleaner if dust can get in anyway. I suppose some of the air is filtered. Although at low throttle, I guess most of the air would follow the path where there is least resistance .... I wonder if the pre-war TBs had the same holes? Bob Schapel |

As far as I know, the holes were added during TC production, and a service bulletin released for adding them to existing cars. Could be remembering wrong... |

Interesting remark in the link made by Steven S regarding the use of a Porsche 912 disposable paper air filter inside the original canister. |
