MG TD TF 1500 - TD 9006 Gray Court, SC
Driving down I-385 about halfway between Greenville and Clinton there's a "junkyard" that I always look at because it always has interesting cars visible from the highway and I've always said "someday I'm going to stop and see what's in there.". Today I spotted a red TD on the front row and, since I was meeting some friends in Clinton, we decided to go back and take a look. The name of the place is 'Classic Cars of S.C., Inc.' and I'm sure the guys running it would object to my use of the term 'junkyard.' Anyway, the TD appears complete although it's pretty rough. The guy at CCofSC says it runs good but I didn't take that as an offer for a test drive since I'm not in the market to buy another TD but I thought maybe one of y'all might be. CCofSC's brochure states that the car is a "1952 MG TD Roadster, garage find, ben in storage since the '80s, very solid, new tires [didn't look like it to me], runs very well." They're asking US$10,500. They also have lots of '49 Willises, '65-'67 Mustangs, a '58 Lincoln Continental convertible (inward sloping rear window) that must be 35 feet long an lots of other '40s, '50s and '60s Detroit iron. Off in the distance I think I also saw two Morris Minors but it was too hot and far to walk up and look. I don't know the owner/operators or have any interest in the business but am just a curious onlooker. Here's some pictures. Jud |

I should have included the following that I copid from the guarantee plate: TD 9006 EXL/NA XPAG/TD/LHX 9506 [could be 9306, the light and my trifocals wouldn't work together] The engine disk is stamped "9306" Jud |

The car has painted headlight buckets with the KOTR medallion.

The dashboard is red Rexine or some vinyl equivalent.

The top is black vinyl and I just noticed that the car is missing the license tag "S" bracket. It may have 4-bolt MGA wheels and I didn't think to look to see what kind of brakes it has. This weekend I saw a nicely done TD with MGA wheels and disk brakes that had to move the rear bumper out about 2-3 inches to accommodate the 4-bold spare tire on an adapter to the standard TD spare tire holder. It's also possible that I'm totally over-thinking this. Jud |

Here's the ignition side of the engine compartment.

Side curtains (don't know if it's just two or all four) improperly stowed but there.

That's all folks - just thought someone might find this interesting. Jud |
