MG TD TF 1500 - TD air cleaner on eBay
If you need an original one. 261641746416 Not sure if there is a reserve. Did not notice it. Opening bid is $70. Just missing the stud and wingnut which you can easily fabricate. |

Tried to contact the seller to see if he would consider accepting my bid. No go. Bids & correspondence that eminate from outside the US & Canada are blocked. Anybody who lives near the seller interested in bidding on my behalf? Preferably someone who is a regular on this site & who I have corresponded with by email. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter- I don't think we have ever had any correspondence but I would be willing to bid for you if you need it. If interested let me know. Roy roy-rose at pacbell dot net |
Roy Challberg |
Hi Roy. I'm at pjbm at bigpond dot com. Could you email me? Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

peter, I have what I believe was NOS from AS that I did not use on a TD restoration that is available but I paid a petty penny for it years ago. I can look up what I paid it if your interested and sell it for the same price...I no longer have the TD... bob brown |

I don't understand why people bid when there are days to go, they only push the final price up. My method is to bid my maximum with maybe 10 seconds to go, if I don't get it then so be it but if I do then at least I haven't paid more than I should have! |

Most people don't depend on themselves to bit at the last minute...they use a proxy bidder such as esnipe.com. I've used this for years and never lost a last minute bid if I'd set enough aside for the esnipe bid. |
Gene Gillam |
Yes please Bob. Please email me with your price (inc shipping to Oz if possible) Let's hope the pretty penny isn't too shiny! I totally agree with you Cliff. That's the strategy I use. Gene I's heard about the proxy bidder thing & will check it out. I get a huge kick out of bidding in the last few seconds. Roy you have mail. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

What I don't understand is why ebay does what it does. It makes no sense and they are leaving lots of money on the table. They should put a time in place that if no other bids are placed within 10 minutes then the item is sold. If people want to keep on bidding like a traditional auction, then so be it. It would remove all of this angst and it would actually drive the price up which means more for ebay. The market would determine the value. Since knowledgeable people are using a service anyway, their bid price is fixed. And BTW just because you use a service that bids at the last minute does not mean you will get the item even if you have the higher price. Many of the services have algorithms that 'test the waters' so to speak a few minutes/seconds prior to the bid time and only bid incrementally based on responses. They can basically get fooled by other algorithms into thinking they have it when they don't. |

Yes Chris, our police have a website where they auction off stolen recovered property, at the end of the auction time every time someone bids the auction is extended by ten minutes, good for the auctioneer but not so good of course for the bidder. |

Thanks all. Rob you have mail. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Does anyone know where the decals for the air cleaner can be found...if there were any on it originally? |
Richard Olson |
I know that Sportsparts in Sydney had some. It was a blue printed decal on a white background. The AC cleaner didn't require one as the instructions for use were pressed into the cover during manufacture. Whether the decal was also added I couldn't say. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

moss lists them |

Unfortunately, the original is a paper label that soaks up any fluid quite readily. Bud |
Bud Krueger |
Bud, could you coat the labels with a laquer or something to protect them? |
david kirkpatrick |
Couldn't tell you, David. I just have an oil-soaked original. Bud |

My thanks to Bob & Chris for their offers of assistance. I'm now the owner of the above item. And a special thanks to Roy Challberg who handled the purchase on my behalf, blitzing the opposition with just a few seconds to go. I was able to watch the bidding here in Oz but because of the restrictions imposed by the seller I could not participate. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Glad it went to a good home. These are getting harder to find in good condition. |

I am wishing to inform you all that the items arrived today & I'm most happy with them both! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I agree that these come up very seldom. Interesting to note that today, two different ones came up on ebay in the US. "TD parts and accessories". Just saying.... Tom '54 TF |
