MG TD TF 1500 - TD Brakes -- Thanks to T Lange
Tom, Thanks very much for lending me your grease fitting set up for pushing the pistons out of my TD brake cylinders. They worked like a charm. I really appreciated your offer and generosity! Also, I just received the master cylinder back from Mark Frappier, who did a beautiful job putting in a a stainless sleeve. Do you have a suggestion for painting or coating the master cylinder? Now I have to get back into the garage to move this project along. I've decided to expand the scope of work. I learned this car has been off the road since 1960 and the engine had to have the crankshaft replaced. Since I have no information about what was done in putting the engine back together, I am going to have a look to make sure its okay. When I push the brake or clutch pedal, the other wants to follow, so I must have a look inside the pedal box to make sure all is well there. The side cover is missing on the pedal box too. Also, time has also not been kind to the front end rubber. For example, I found the steering rack boots torn. Thanks again, Charlie Adams |

"When I push the brake or clutch pedal, the other wants to follow, so I must have a look inside the pedal box to make sure all is well there" The most likely cause of this situation is the excluder around the pedals. push the excluder down on the pedal shafts as far as you can (this may necessitate removing the excluder and putting a liberal amount of some silicone lubricant, such as SilGlide on the pedal shafts and the inside surface of the excluder.
