MG TD TF 1500 - TD Fasteners
I did a terrible job bagging/identifying parts when I dissassembled my TD (early) 2 years ago. It seems a lot of the chassis fasteners grew legs and ran off. (The engine/tranny are complete/OK). What is the thread on the chassis bolts? Is it the Whitworth (coarse) or BSF? I want to order a bunch of various sizes to have them on hand. |

Bill - All chassis hardware on the TD is BSF except for the studs on the windshield used to fold it. These are BSB (British Standard Brass) and have pitch of 26 TPI regardless of size. The only Whitworth thread in the whole car is the bolt that secures the adjusting link to the generator (this can be replaced with a standard 3/8 - 18 american bolt as the threads are so close as to make no difference. I believe that Chris Cooper has a fairly comprehensive listing of the TD hardware in his web site, The Original MGTD midget < http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/ > Good luck - Dave |
