MG TD TF 1500 - TD Front Drums Needed
I don't really like to use our forum for a wanted advert but any responses might help to convince an old man (my Uncle not me) that the internet has its uses! This request is really for TD owners in the UK or Europe due to postage costs but my Uncle needs one, but preferably two, front brake drums for a TD rebuild, after years of gathering up all the bits he needs he didn't notice missing front drums! We will be going to the Beauleigh International Autojumble in a couple of weeks if anyone has some we could meet there to save on postage ... just a thought. |

Worth checking other clubs in the Old Dart for other marques with suitable drums as you are ideally placed to source them. The Morris Commercial has suitable drums I believe & probably other 5 stud Morris & some Wolseleys' as well. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Cliff. They do turn up from time to time. I bought one at the mg spares Day at Stoneleigh last year, and the guy had at least one other. Sorry I don't remember who it was. Try an ad on TT2. Dave H |

Cliff, the majority of TD front brake drums are now very well worn, and have probably been skimmed at least once. If you buy second-hand ones ensure they are not cracked or are very thin on the lining contact area. New ones for steel wheeled cars have not been available new for quite a long time. Because of this the MG Octagon Car Club had a batch of new front drums made recently. To ensure you get a pair of decent front drums that are matched it may be worth buying new ones. Most of the braking effort is on the front brakes. You can contact the MG Octagon Car Club via www.mgoctagoncarclub.com Regards, Brian |

Bob Grunau still makes brake drums for all T-Series. Usually sold in pairs but I'm sure he'll sell singly. See:- grunau.garage@sympatico.ca Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

I have several uncut front TD drums for sale. Please send me an email if you cannot find any locally. If you are not in a hurry sea mail may be a reasonably inexpensive shipping option from Canada to the UK. Cheers, Hugh |

You really need to desire Alfins to spend $1500. I wanted a set for my TF, but not at that price. PJ |

Cliff I believe I have a spare drum in the garage. It's in pretty good condition with no scoring on the drum. Not sure whether it's for a front or rear hub, will check in the morning. I tried selling it on ebay but no interest See photograph Regards Mick 52 TD |

MJ that would be a front. Rearsa have splines for the axle shafts. Cheers Bill Chasser jr TD4834 |
