MG TD TF 1500 - TD Headlight alignment
Hi All, I've just noticed my TD's ,XPAG 14202, right headlight is out of kilter and aiming up and to the center. For the life of me I can't figure out how to access the adjustments. Please instruct me. Since I’m on the topic of repairs any ideas on a shop manual (which one) and where to get? |

Jim, Check the archives. There is a ton in there about this topic. Rob |

Does the headlight not just 'float' in the bracket and backing off the big nut underneath allow the light to be moved, then tightened? |

The TD/TF Workshop Manual (original) is available from BritBooks, Moss, Abingdon Spares, etc.It is a must. The Horst Schach "Restoration Manual" is also an asset. You remove the headlight rim by first removing the chrome screw at the bottom of the rim. Then pull out on the bottom of the rim, the top is hooked over a flange, lift up.You the will see three slotted screws that are the adjusters. The will move the beam up, down, left and right. Trial and error to see which does what. |

Don; Your assesment is correct but only for the TF.Remember that the TD and TC light unit is held to the rim by spring clips. The TD is adjusted by loosening the lower mounting nut and moving the complete housing to the required position. Sandy Sanders |
