MG TD TF 1500 - TD Headlights
I am missing the wire that runs from the ignition switch to the headlight switch that dims my headlights. I have a wiring diagram but it does not show a clear picture of where it comes from or goes. The bright works fine but I am sure all the on coming cars didn't appreciate them. Can someone tell me where it connects to the ignition switch and Light switch? I've got over 100 miles on my TD since completing the 3-4 year restoration 2 weeks ago. Don MGTD 17700 |

The schematic in my workshop manual seems pretty clear, but there are two separate schematics; one for foot operated dip with turn flashers and one for hand operated dip. Which do you have? In either case, the blue wire from "H" on the ignition switch goes to "1" on the dip switch and a blue with red wire goes from "2" on the manual dip switch to each dip filament. A blue with white wire goes from "4" on the manual dip switch to each main filament. HTH, George B. |

Hi Don According to the Schematic in the original Workshop manual. The wire comes from terminal #2 (the terminal between #4 & #40) on the Horn push /Dimmer switch splits and goes to each Headlight Dip Filiment |

George & Keith, Thank You! I have the manual dip switch. I'll install the wire tonight. Thanks again Don |

Just installing one wire will not fix the problem. Your blue and white wire is probably on the "H" and must be moved to the dip switch. |

Only an manual dip switch? Whose got an automatic dip switch? Or do some folks feet automatically respond to passing cars? :-) Chris |

"Manual" means "by hand" versus "by foot". |
