MG TD TF 1500 - TD Mirrors
Hi, just wondering if anyone knows where to get a passenger side mirror for the best price, or does anyone have one they would be willing to sell? Am posting for my Dad as he has no PC access. Thanks Mark |

Mark, My guess is his "snapped" where the mirror fits to the post. (like most of us!) Several sources: http://www.lbcarco.com Is one of my favorites. They sell a re-pro that you can fit the old "lucas" back-plate to that makes it hard to tell from the orginal. Jeff is nice people and his prices are about 20% less than some others. Cheers, David 55 TF1500 #7427 |

Am I the only one who's puzzled as to which type of car this is for? (Red '68 midget) Is it for a TD? TF? Is it for the mirror that would be on the left wing? right wing? I may have one for free. |

Mark's Dad must have a TD (hence the title TD Mirrors), and is not computer connected. So Mark is posting for him. Mark owns a Midget, so he knows about this board. Since he is in the UK, his TD must be a RHD, so he needs the LH mirror. Perhaps Mark doesn't realize that MG's largest market after the war was the USA. But this is exactly why my posts are so long... I always try to leave nothing to chance... and in the process bore the entire group with detail. warmly, dave |

Mark, Which sort of mirror does your father want? TDs generally have them fitted to the front wings - similar to the ones on a Morris Minor or special MG ones fitted to the windscreen brackets. For the former look at the ads in the back of Practical Classics and latter try NTG Services or Brown and Gammons. Cheers Jan T |

Mark, I failed to notice you are in UK. Surley there is a closer source for you! |

Mark, An outstanding collection offering choices for wing and windscreen mounting is available from Gregorys Autoparts in North Lincolnshire. http://www.gregorysautoparts.co.uk/. Just type in 'mirrors' in the search window, and have a go - dozens available. BTW, the original Lucas wing mirrors, are fetching £100 each from Gregorys!! But I can't stand the thought of making a hole (or holes) in those graceful T-Series wings! My Christmas prez to you. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Mark, here are two links for companies in the UK that sell both mirrors and parts of mirrors, if your Dad only needs the arm. They have several types, so you may be able to match his. The price of new is not that much different than used, and may be the better way to go. http://www.holden.co.uk/productSearch.asp http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/ Good luck- Dallas |

Silly question, but does anyone have a "lucas" backplate My car came with original miiror and I need one for the driver's side. I bought it from Rob @ MGT's (he is no longer there and sold the business) and just need the one backplate. Anyone? |

Hi, many thanks for all your input, sorry about the confusing thread, Dave Braun was spot on in deciphering the puzzle!! To fill you in better it is a RHD car and the drivers mirror is fixed to the side of the windscreen frame not the wings themselves. I dont think the car has ever had a passenger (left side) mirror fitted. Thanks again Mark |

Mark, I may be able to make the search a little easier. If you can get an image of the existing mirror and send it me I'll post it at http://www.ttalk.info/picture_this.htm so that others can see it. Someone may have just the one you need. |

Hi Mark, the correct mirror you require is a Lucas type 160. They are expensive and difficult to get but repro ones are available but the quality can be poor. Mine certainly is. Good luck, Paul. |
