MG TD TF 1500 - TD rear axle bearings
I am rebuilding the rear axle on my 1952 TD. I am having a hard time finding rear wheel bearings. I have been to several bearing speciality shops and they freak out and say they can't get that bearing or it will be of a questionable quality. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

The bearings I have listed for the rear wheels are "National #473234". I would suggest that if you were to give this bearing identity to any bearing supply house, they should be able to cross reference the number and get the equivalent for you from other manufacturers. I have great success with transmission supply business and Napa. George |

George R, I think that is the seal number, not the bearing. The original bearing # was MJ1-1/4. I replaced one from one of the major suppliers a couple years ago- don't remember the brand but quality was fine. George B |

Try this company: http://orinocobearings.co.uk/ I got front wheel bearings for my 1961 midget from them, they are difficult to get with the correct inner radius. Quality appears all right, two of them are NOS. Tore |

This is another website for the same company. http://www.ransomeandmarles.co.uk/references.html As you can see, MJ1-1/4 is on their stock list. Tore |

I got mine from moss. And, they were shipped right away. Alex |

Check the archives for the bearing/seal numbers. Back in 2004 LED told us that the bearings are available from NAPA as GRW 118. The seals are NAPA 16719. Bud |

George B. Oops, thanks for the correction. Bearings are on the next line down on my list. The seal number and the bearing number are now underlined. There's always room for improvement, eh. George |

Just for you Len, I am sure a good bearing supplier can cross reference the P/No to a sealed variant. Graeme |
