Why "Reupholstered leather seats" when "Odometer reads 7,701 believed to be original miles" |
W. Mueller |
for that matter why did it ned a frame up restoration in1969 with such low milage? |
J K Barter |
When they pulled it out of the junk yard in 1969 it was a different color. That beigy color looks so bad on a TD. Makes it look like a VW kit car. This a good example of very OVER-restored car. |

"Odometer reads 7,701 believed to be original miles" Another example of an "alternative fact". They forgot to include the 100,000 miles that it tripped the odo on before it wrapped to 7,701. Heck it could have even been over 200,000 miles. By 1970, my car had wracked up over 230k miles. |

The paint appears to me to be Ivory which is an original colour on the TD. The code is YL5 & is the same colour as was used on the TC which was listed as Sequoia Cream. Certainly appears to be the correct colour right down to the seemingly different shade in shadow & sunlight. Also happens to be the same colour & combo as mine, though the interior is a darker tan. This combo was not generally supplied ex factory, with many stating that it just was not available (red or green being the correct interior for Ivory cars) however 10 Ivory TC's arrived in Sydney ex factory in the Sequoia Cream/Beige combination. I do like the perfectly matched exterior piping. This is correct & not often seen on restored cars. The odometer almost certainly reads the mileage since restoration with who knows how many clocked up prior to that. No way she's only done 7,000 miles! I would have liked to have seen some shots of the engine bay & dash though. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

That should read 'some more shots'. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Now that we covered most of the faults,,,,back to the original post,,, any one know about the "see through" badge on the badge bar ?? |
SPW Wincze |
That's a Jaguar Driver's Club badge. It is in the shape of an early XK steering wheel with the Jaguar growler in the center. |

Also, isnt the steering wheel center and the dash gauge panel the wrong color? I thought they were more of a gold like color. |

I agree Bruce. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
