MG TD TF 1500 - TD/TF Emergency Fuel Pump
Since I sold the TD last year, I have no use for this but I can't remember how much $$ I have in it, or what its worth. Has gas tank sealing plug, pressure gauge, tubing, and in case you have an arthritic hand, a battery powered air pump. Any idea what this would be worth, as I have a lot of spare parts to list for sale soon? Thanks.

Larry, I don't know about the pump, but the rest of the parts can be gotten for about $15. The bulb and pressure gauge (sphygmomanometer) come from a low price blood pressure kit. See http://www.ttalk.info/EmergencyPumpII.htm for the original write up. Bud |

This emergency fuel pump kit does really work. I first learned of this from Stuart Locke from San Francisco, at one of our GOOFs. I made up the kit form lab supplies and had it in our TF when returning from an all MG event in Gatlinburg Tennessee. We were in Ohio on our way to Sarnia Ontario. My fuel pump quit, and we pulled over and I found it behind the drivers seat. I installed it and we started to pump up the air pressure in the tank. After only a few pumps we had fuel pressure, and Barbara pumped us all the way home, about a day and a half. We bought a small clock so she could keep track of time and she only had to pump about 10 pumps per minute. I have never driven the TF without one, and we did use it one more time, after a second pump failure.
Cheers, Byron. |
