MG TD TF 1500 - TD Thermostat housing
Lots of information in the archives but I am still facing a dilemma. It appears my TD's thermostat has stuck open as I can not get it to warm up past 60C on the gauge and verified with a meat thermometer in the radiator. Only if I block 50% of the radiator can I get 70-80C. So my question: buy the expensive Moss 434-178 update with replaceable thermo or try to modify my existing housing to take a common autoparts house thermostat? |

I modified my thermostat housing to accept a modern type thermostat, as well as restricting the by-pass opening.

John. I have a new never used 07-065 unit from Abingdon Spares. If you wish I will make you a price way below cost. Send email and I will send photos as they are too large to send from this site. Sandy esane@msn.com |

Thanks for your responses. I took mine off the car and found it was already modified, some 36 years ago before I acquired the car. Tested in a pot of hot water and it opens as intended at 160F. |
