MG TD TF 1500 - TD Wings Wiring Harness Clips

Hi All,

On TFs with regard to the front wings (underneath) originally there was a clip under one of the setscrews of the 1130 Lucas Sidelights which supported the wiring to the light.

Did TDs also have this clip?

Also, on TFs originally there was a clip under the rear most bolt holding the rear wing to a chassis bracket. This clip also supported the wiring going to the rear lights.

Did TDs also have this clip?

Cheers

The TD did have a bolt-on clip in the lower bolt hole in the rear fender. The only clip I know of in the front is the one welded to the underside of the fender Between the headlight support pad and the hole where the wire enters the fender.

There is also a small open clip on the parking light wire where the bolt holds the lamp. Hard to see on this picture because its covered in dirt.

That's a good one to see if we can get a clearer picture of. It appears there are bolts with nuts coming off the parking light. On my TD, there are flat head machine screws that go up into the parking light?

Thankyou for your responses to the TD clip questions.

I did suspect, like TFs,that TDs also had an open clip
under one of the sidelight affixing screws for harness wiring support. Often missing. Great photo Chris.

I do agree that usually the Lucas sidelight is affixed to the wing with two(2) setscrews. However, I have seen owners change to a bolt/nut set up when the thread in the base plate of the light holder ends up over time with rusted out threads!

The rear wing bolt with clip is now also confirmed.

Rob. Isn't it interesting that after 73 years, we are still unsure on what was and was not on these cars.

Bruce,

TDs seem to have had many changes over the years that they were produced.

However,TFs,with the exception of a few differences
with regard to TF1500s,had limited detail changes.
