MG TD TF 1500 - TD Wire Harness
I am in the final stages of assembly on my 1953 TD and have a question concerning the wire harness. Where does ir enter the coach from the bottom going up thru the floor to under the instrument panel. I've looked in Horst Schach Restoration Manual but could not sort it out. |

The T-Series Restoration Guide by Malcom Green shows a diagram of the bulkhead and identifies which hole is which. Of course, it's completely wrong on my dad's TA, but by the time they got to the TD it was pretty well standardized. I can do the TA diagram in my sleep...learning the same for my new TF. Andy....Mount it on your bedroom ceiling so you can commit to memory! You are "positive" ground still ...aren't you? Cheers, David 55 TF1500 #7427 |

Bill - "...a question concerning the wire harness. Where does it enter the coach from the bottom going up thru the floor to under the instrument panel." It comes into the passenger compartment through the firewall below and just to the left of the voltage regulator. Go to Chris Cooper's web site, The Original MG TD midget at: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/ Click on Details and then on Firewall Layout. Cheers - Dave |

Bill, In my website there is a bulkhead diagram, and an electrical section that may answer some of your questions. But basically, the harness comes from inside the car, out thru the big hole by the regulator, half of it goes forward to the front lights along the LH chassis member, it crosses and is attached to the steering rack, there is a hole in each wing to go to the lights, The other half travels back to the rear of the car via behind the master cylinder bracket. Hope this helps, dave |

You do have your color coded wiring diagram in front of you don't you?

Thanks all, I see the light now. I was thinking the wires entered thru the floor and then passed thru the firewall to feed the voltage regulator. I now see the wireing running from the frame up the frame tower and in thru the large hole on the firewall. |

On the TF there is a hole in the frame tower for a harness clamp. Not sure if the TD has this but probably does. Dan H. |
