MG TD TF 1500 - TD Master Cylinder Cap
In rebuilding my master cylinder I started cleaning the cap. I noticed two holes on the bottom and one on the side of the nut hex on top. The two holes on the bottom share the same void or chamber. The hole on top goes into a chamber. There seems to be a thin layer of metal separating them. I can't seem to pass any air between the top and bottom holes (after soaking and cleaning). So I'm wondering if this is either a small expansion chamber or maybe I have a blocked passage. It's interesting that the manuals I have don't have a reference to these ports for either cleaning or purpose. The assembly looks to be soldered together. Mike |

Mike - The holes should pass air, they are a vent for the M/C reservoir. Cheers - Dave |

Thanks Dave. After soaking overnight in laquer thinner and tapping out dirty goo I pressured checked it on a tester I designed. It bubbled well out the top vent. Mike |
