MG TD TF 1500 - tell me you never
thought about doing the TD tub as a woody
|
LED DOWNEY |
somebody already done it? No I'm not gaonna do it on this one but was just thinking if ya had a bad tub and needed all new wood...maybe... maybe not
|

It does seem funny to have all that gorgeous wood and cover it with metal! |
Geoff Baker |
I never thought about a woody but I did consider a fiberglass body using the old rusted out body parts as molds. Sorta Corvette style. It would sure lighten up the body for the XPAGs to haul. |
Jim Merz |
Don't forget to drill some weep holes in channels under the runningboard trim. |
David Sheward |
Not a TD/TF, but this is a '74 midget from the Cape Cod MG Club SPW |

I've thought about a woody: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccy/artists/ywoodwdv.jpg http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccy/artists/ywoodsco.jpg |

How many hours do you think that guy has in that wood mini? I will bet he doesn't drive that in the rain! John |

Scott Barrow lives down by Cape Cod. |
Bud Krueger |
John - Why not? It's a traditional boat building method, and was used quite a lot on exotic cars - prettier ones to be sure! I like the "Woody" Y type designs very much, but I'm always wondering why somebody hasn't built an Airline TD. FRM |

I wasn't thinking about redesigning the TD to the art Deco look of the Midget but thinking it wouldn't be to far of a stretch to go wood under the cowel from the bonnet back. Also thinking perhaps a pick up , wood bed, build a bulkhead behind the seats, under bed gas tank, and a true "T" top. What to do with the spare? Hmm.... The Airlines are the most beautiful of the MG's but a project like that would be well beyond my meager skills Fletch. |

FRM... someone did: http://www.roundaboutmanor.com/airline/ar_pics_pv.htm |

Yah, I already found it - I spent a couple of hours with my bad dial up and Lew's evidently bad server - but it was worth it! If I had known that Laverne was in Fruita when I came through there in August, and that he has Fat Tire, we might be finishing one up about now. FRM |

Lews is a great site...haven't been on for a while, but noticed its been updated since i was on last.... Has to be the most beautiful mgs made.... the td doesn't have the long nose of the previous models so looks a bit top heavy...still nice though. I understand that one was made of carbon fibre |

Drop by anytime Fletch. I'll give you a tour of the valley and tell how good it was before oil shale, gas drilling and the 100,000 morons that moved in here. Or we can just sit in the shop and drink beer and look for crap I've misplaced. |
