MG TD TF 1500 - TF-1500 fuel pump bolts

What is the correct bolt (and thread size) for the two mounting bolts that go in to the fuel pump bracket to the SU pump body. I ask because I am mounting a new pump and the old bolts don't feel good going in to the new pump. Upon closer inspection the old bolts don't feel great in to the old pump - but perhaps they were forced "to work". I don't want to bugger up a new pump and thought I'd ask...

Think I solved this - 1/4BSW -22 x 1/2"

Which pump bolts are you talking about, number 1 position or number 2?

Paul, that would be the bolts at "1"

Interesting that the photo shows two 90 degree fittings. I have one - at the top (outlet).

Not saying the fittings are correct in their positions and curvature of the lines are as factory, but that's how they were when I disassembled everything and all worked proper at the time, so the new went back the same way. Looks ok.
I had to buy a set of taps & dies to chase some of the threads on my car, as odd bolts found their way to the car in various places. Wonder how that happened? (Grin). I've found that some new parts don't receive the bolts as they should and the bolts don't feel right. Maybe the Chinese taps used in the Chinese castings are a tad smaller or the thread cut isn't as factory? PJ

The bolts in question are 1/4 - 26 BSF. BSW bolts are a course thread and not used anywhere in the T series cars except for the adjusting link for the generator where the link attaches to the generator. If the threads for the mounting bolts have been tapped out for a BSW thread, an American National Course bolt can be substituted as they are the same thread count.

You can get a chart of standard threads on my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ in the Other Tech Article section. Cheers - Dave
