MG TD TF 1500 - tf-1500 turn indicator dash light
I replaced the turn indicator bulb in the dash and I can barely see it.Would a led bulb work better? any suggestions? thanks Michael |

I think an LED would be brighter but some dash light bulb sockets have a built in wire resister and use a lower voltage bulb. You might be using a 12v. bulb in a 6v. socket. Experts on this BBS can confirm or negate that. Jud |

The turn signal socket should not have a resistor, so a normal 12 volt bulb should be fine, The problem with the LED bulbs is making sure you have one of the correct polarity, as LEDs are polarity sensitive. And there aren't too many positive ground LED bulbs available of the correct size. However, since the usual Lucas bulb holder is not grounded (earthed), you could always reverse the wiring to use a negative ground bulb in a positive ground (earth) car. |

When I wired my bulb socket for the green directional light, it had a ground. One black ground wire and light green from the FL3 / FL5 flasher relay. Pic is from early TF 1414. Frank |

I'm tall enough I can't see the light without bending my head a little. I wired in a beeper to remind me to turn it off after I have made a turn. |

I have moved to led's throughout my dashboard. Positive earth led's of various colours are obtainable in UK from www.bettercarlighting.co.uk and other suppliers. |
