MG TD TF 1500 - TF-AIR FILTER

... could be. But as you know, the back-side plate differs for the front and rear carb. The front filter needs an angled plate to accomodate the angle of the body.

Until a few years ago, Volkes used to still have inventory of both front and rear complete filter, but I wouldn't know if that's still the case. Moss don't show them in their catalogue, so probably not.

In any event a new rear plate for the front carb is no longer available, so maybe the e-bay jobbie will be OK for the rear carb, but not the front.

Moss ran out a few years ago, and I found a pair of original Vokes for my TF on eBay last year. I was able to get a nice pair for about $100, which was great. Mostly they go for much more. There's a pair for sale on ebay now:

I expect that this pair will fetch $250 or more.

I have a pair of 'foam chrome dome' (RamFlo)filters that fit the TF that I had on the car until I could find the original ones, that I'd donate to someone that needed something temporary to get back on the road. I had to put a dent in the front dome to provide clearance from the cowl, so I can't really really resell them for any application but a TF. Contact me if you want them. These work, and look OK, but look nothing like the original equipment.

Just looked at the original listing, and that appears to be an original TF air filter. On the TF, both filters are angled, but one has a fitting for the valve cover breather (not sure which right now, but I'll look at my car when I get home from work today).

I'm not sure what good having just one correct filter would be, but you could bid on it, and hope to find another incomplete or damaged set later. The 'Buy it Now' price it pretty cheap, so it may be smart to just take it.

I have a 51 TD with MG F type filters. Do you know why so many of the original owners replaced the TD air filters with style. Also these have a copper mesh filter that looks like a pot scrubber. Should they be cleaned and oiled How should it be done?

Because it made it look like a race car and was advertised as "breathing" a bit better.... Thats what makes the stock TD aircleaner and manifold worth about $600.00
