MG TD TF 1500 - TF and MG Aust. Nat Concours Title.

Hi All,

The Australian National MG Meeting has just concluded in Perth,
Western Australia yesterday.

I am very proud to say that 'Aramis'(TF1250) won the TF Class National Concours Title against stiff opposition. Also it won the National Outright Concours d'Elegance Pre MGA Title which involves MGs including all T type classes,Y types, and MG Pre War vehicles etc.

This bbs td tf forum has contributed so much to the car, particularly
in relation to confirming originality details over the years, correct panel alignment, best parts availability etc.

Thankyou to all those individuals who have answered queries so promptly. Appreciated.

Cheers.

Congratulations Rob. I know you have worked hard to get your car to be a concourse winner for many years back I rescued an MGA from the Brisbane floods in 1976 and restored it to become a Sydney Concourse winner. Now you have reached the pinnacle of your success what's next for you Rob?

Well done, Rob!! Bud

Thankyou for all your congrats.

Peter, your Tool Roll with my original tools certainly assisted the process! The Concours day was a wet one, raining much of the time.
At least there was no wind and the temperature was still quite warm.
Ironically, with the inclement weather, I could not display the Kit on the ground in front of the car which I like to do so sat the open Roll with the Jack etc.on the rear sidescreen compartment lid !

John W, I am about 80% through the total rebuild/restoration of our TF1500. It has been a difficult job to get it how I want it to be,however I can just see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will not be doing
any more total car rebuilds, however will keep the 'head marbles' rolling by restoring, and moving on, original 1130 Lucas sidelights. Less stress! You obviously know the effort required with restoration
re your MGA success.

I never take for granted how lucky we are in Australia to be able to 'play' with our MGs in such an uncertain world. I feel like I have had a most fortunate life in all respects. One cannot achieve much without
a most supportive wife, including her tolerance of mgtf and TD mania!!

Cheers

Congratulations Rob, a great achievement, a long time ago a chap told me you were the TF Guru, a Master he said, of course he was right but on top of that you are a good bloke who does not mind passing on what you know and helping others.

Thanks Rob B. Really good to see you again in Perth,WA. on Saturday.

As you know, any photos were at a premium with the inclement weather ! Also,I was part of team judging the TD Class most of the day
so little time was left for the photographs.

However, I probably at this stage do need to get some photos of our TF on the bbs td tf forum. Give me a week or so and I will try and furnish some photos of "Aramis".

George M,thankyou for your kind words.

Cheers.

It was a fantastic meeting. I softened and trailered the TF behind the V6 Camry for the 4 days it took to get there from Melbourne.

Matthew.

My car met its Western Australian doppelganger. Both in Birch Grey.

Jason Edwards from Adelaide drove impressively in his LHD imported TD.

Gday Rob,
Click on "Upload" (below where you type the next message),
Click on "Browse",
Navigate to your picture file (via "User", then "Pictures" in my case, with double-clicks),
Select picture,
"Submit" picture,
Click on "Close" (close the box),
A few seconds later you should see the picture at the bottom under your typed message.
There is a limit on the picture size, I cant remember what it is. I reduce the file size and crop with a free program called Picasa.

Below are the TC, TD and TF class winners. Rare to see a USA spec TC in Australia.

Matthew.

M Magilton

Thanks for that Matt.,
Will have a go at it.

Outstanding attention to detail Rob.

I wish I could see this TF in person.

Congrats again.

Thankyou Matt. and Frank C.

I guess you give it your best shot when rebuilding a beast!

The body tub rebuild on TFs is a critical element in getting the overall
result required. If this is done well, the rest is relatively easier to
fit up correctly. The things you really can't see in the photo Frank are items I know you are also fussy about too. Bonnet fits, door fits, rear stone guard to rear wing even gapping etc. are not clear on any photographs.
Karvel carpet versus the modern junk can't also be viewed clearly
in photographs.

If you ever come to Australia you are most welcome to come and have a chat and view of the the TF.

Cheers.

I would like to add my congratulations to Rob on his success.
I have had the pleasure to be able to see "Aramis" personally and the photos do not do it justice. The attention to detail that Rob puts into his cars is awe inspiring. His car is not a show pony it is actually driven and enjoyed as it was meant to be.
It would have been an interesting competition if Rob had "Athos" ready for the National Meeting. I actually commented to Rob last year about the possibility and his reply was he was not about to rush the restoration to make this happen, which is typical of Rob, as he would not be happy if it was not quite right.
Rob is a wealth of knowledge on TF and is willing to pass this knowledge onto who ever makes an enquiry. A true gentleman.
Thankyou Rob for your guidance and sharing your knowledge of our beloved little British Cars
Kind Regards

Graeme M.,

It was a pleasure to see you and your lovely wife in Perth last year.
Still amazes me how MGs bring so many persons together from all parts of the world.

Could you email me.
