MG TD TF 1500 - TF Bolts & Screws
Who sells the proper bolts and screws for a TF? I can't find a thing in the Moss site. Cowl bolts, fender bolts, side panel bolts? Actually, I'm not sure just what I need yet, but I do know, whoever worked on it in the past must have been a nit wit and grabbed anything that was handy. I had to buy a set of taps and dies to correct some messed up threads, plus some Heli Coils. PJ |

Moss Lists them under "Shop Supplies" although they have "Kits" in the various other categories Abingdon lists them as nuts and bolts. http://www.abingdonsparesllc.com/catpg23detail.html about 1/2 way down the page. Jim B. |

Moss sells them as does Abingdon. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=44709&SortOrder=160 http://www.abingdonsparesllc.com/catpg23detail.html You can also buy bolts and nuts from British Fasteners http://www.britishfasteners.com/?gclid=CInE9sqYxb0CFaVQOgoduDMAmg There is a list for the mgtf somewhere. You might check the archives. I have it in paper but cannot remember where I got it from right now. For the TD this is still a work in process: http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_bolts.htm |

Abingdon used to have a "bag of nuts and bolts" that was very helpful at restoration. It had many of the commonly used sized. George |

PJ, you might want to take look at this page on my Ttalk site: http://www.ttalk.info/Fasteners.htm There are some good listings from a number of our folks. Bud |

PJ I recommend printing out the "TF fastener list" on Ttalk. I am at the reassembly stage on my TF and I am using mostly new bolts/screws. The list is invaluable. I am getting all mine from Moss. Just got a wee bag o' nuts in the mail today. Tom '54 TF |

Paul, They are British Standard Fine (BSF) as are all the chassis bolts and screws larger than 3/16 dia. Smaller screws are BA, with 2BA being the most common. Carbs are all BA, ( 2BA and 4BA). There is one "Whitworth" bolt (BSW) on the generator adjust bracket. The engine and transmission are French Standard Metric (NOT ISO Metric), with Whitworth heads:5 x 0.75 mm, 6 x 1.0 mm, 8 x 1.0 mm, 10 x 1.5 mm and 12 x 1.5 mm. reflecting their being built in the Hotchkiss Machine Gun Factory. Late TDs and TFs rear axles have Unified Threads instead of BSF, these are the same as ANF ( American National Fine or SAE threads) No matter what you may find on your T car, originally it was BSF or FSM with Whitworth heads |
