MG TD TF 1500 - TF bumpers??
Hi all. Ive just assembled the bumpers and overriders onto the restored irons, and have a question? It seems the rear bumper is slightly wider than the front one by about 2"?? The overrider spacing further apart than on the front. Can you confirm this is correct! Cheers Dave |

Hi Dave, Yes, that is correct. I just measured ours, 2" difference, about 53" and 55" regards, Al 54 TF "Emma" |

Dash instrumentation threw me for a loop for a second ...then I remembered! |

Cheers for the bumper info Al. Dash does the job perfectly for the Triumph engine and box. I tried to find a suitable matching round dial with oil, temp, amps, but nothing! Still looking though! Also converting to neg earth. The original dash and dials are all safe, and can be restored as and when an original engine turns up. |

UH OH ...you said the "T" word! LOL Just kidding ...like I should talk! I use it to keep the "door open". |

At least when both are side by the rust bug will be attracted to the TR7 before the MG!"grin" You have the best looking car MG made, and the worst Triumph made! LOL |

It's even worse than that ..I bought it sight unseen as a "TR6"! A long story. |

Pilkie, Tell us how you did the wood looking dash? Veneer, actual wood, special photo finish decal? I've wanted to do a faux finish wood painted center dash panel on my TF... Some day. I like how yours looks. Alex |

Hi Alex. First,,look what ive found! "pic" a 3 in 1 dial with oil, amps, temp thats a pefect match for the others in size and bezel! Ive got enough veneer to make another dash to fit the 3 large dials. I know its not original, but its in keeping! I might even have a go at using the original dash and mount them so the octagonal bezels are utilised! The dash is made from a 3mm thick veneer wood panel an antique restorer mate gave me. I used the original as the template, and fitted the donor dials to suit the layout. The original dash trim surround was fitted to tidy up the edges. |

Very slick. What did you use for the rest of the dash? |
Alex Waugh |
The dash is thick veneer,no metal backing. Stiff enough as it is,painted the rest body colour! Instruments are from a 1974 MG midget 1500. The 3 in 1 dial is from a Hillman Super Minx. |
