MG TD TF 1500 - TF Fog Light Switch
I have a problem with my fog light switch. In the off position it is still allowing a limited current to flow giving me very dim fog lights when the switch is off. Normal strength fog lights when the switch is on. I have checked the switch with a meter and it confirms what is happening. Is it possible to pull these switches to pieces? The nut on the end appears to be soldered in place. If I do pull it to pieces, is this problem fixable? Incidentally this is a two position switch, which may not be the correct fog light switch. I am just using the first on position. I guess it may actually be a head light switch. Thanks, Graeme. |

Graeme, sounds like a headlight switch. You could try on the second position before anything else. Regards, Don TF 4887 |

Since it sounds like you have a head light switch, I'd check the terminal that you are feeding power to the switch and make sure you are not tied into out put terminals on both connections. |

Try spraying the switch with some electrical contact cleaner. Often there is a small opening through which you can spray the insides. Then work it several times to move the cleaner around on the inside. |
