MG TD TF 1500 - TF Jaeger Speedometer repair
Is Jaeger instruments still in business? My speedometer on the 55 TF was frozen solid and prior to that, the trip meter and odometer actuating cams were froze and the fiber gears are striped. It's a 1525 spedo and I would like to know if I can get parts for it, especially the little cam drive shafts. It was frozen so solid, it twisted the speedo cable into prior to me getting it. Any help on this would be appreciated. I know how to repair instruments and have the tools to do so, I just need a parts supplier. Thanks, PJ |

I'm sure that someone has some information on this subject. Any info would be very much appreciated. The speedometer is now working, but the trip meter and odometer don't, due to the bad gears. PJ |

Paul Jaeger is long defunct. Several sources for rebuild. Nosinger, Moma, APT. and others I'm sure. Will they sell you the parts? I don't know. I stole some gears out of an early Sprite speedo to repair mine. If you find a source for parts alone I'd be interested myself. |

Thanks LaVerne, Are you saying other BL cars had the same internal works as the TF speedo? What year Sprite was it that you got your parts from? If they'd work, I'd buy a whole Sprite speedo just for the gears. Oh incidentally, I have the speedo working just fine, I just have no odometer or trip meter. PJ |

Paul, Nisonger in NY specialize in repairing and restoring old gauges, like several other places do. You can Google them and find out more. I've had 2 Jaeger MGB speedos repaired by them and they did good work but were slow, I'd say around 6-8 week turnaround time. Cost was in the $170 range plus shipping. I don't know of anywhere where you can buy the parts from. I tried and couldn't find anyone. I'm trawling your list because I'm considering buying a TF. Andy 60 MGA Coupe 67 mgb roadster 74 MGB GT |
