MG TD TF 1500 - TF Model Car
I have just visited the Lakeland Motor Museum to look at their collection including a superb TF. I found my wife in their shop about to buy a model MG car as a surprise for my birthday. It would have been a real surprise since she was about to buy a model TC and my car is a TF! I have checked on line and can not find a TF. Does anyone know if one is available? I would like a large one say about 12" long. Cheers Jan T |

Hi Jan, as far as I know only SeFinecast make a TF model @ 1/24 scale app 6",(Code A021). The company used to be Wills Finecast and I built their TF 15/20 years ago. It is fairly accurate but really needs some finishing. I did another for a mate and wheel buffed it and it was much better. The photo was to wind up a friend who was snowed up in the Lake district, we live on the Wirral Peninsular and don't know what snow is. PS there are some Corgi TF's on Ebay Ray TF2884 |

Unless you are at an appropriate swap meet then TF models are quite hard to find. The Road Signature TC is about the only decent 1/16 scale model T type that I can find in a reasonable price range (maybe the one your wife was looking at?). If you have deep pockets then you could try hunting for a Victory models battery powered TF, I have a tatty example in my collection (see picture). Matthew. |

My son bought me one, he got it out of an antique shop in London. Of course, it's RHD and British racing green. It's too nice to re-paint. PJ |

Jan: You are thinking of the Doepke MGTD that were about 12". They never made a TF to my knowledge. http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/Models/Thumbnails/mgtf_gallery_models.htm And Matthew. Did anyone ever tell you that you were an compulsive-obsessive? :-) |

I picked up these 3 while I at the Reno event back in 2011. I wasn't in any shape to stick around and ask questions about them. They are roughly 3 plus inches long. This one was the TD...for the now departed black TD I had.

Here's the Victory TF Matthew talked of. It's about 8in in length. They do come up from time to time on eBay. They did red, black, green and cream versions. The black version came with with either tan or red seats. They also did an MGA. The box is just great. David |

In addition to the MGA there were at least two versions of the Morris Minor two door sedan, an Austin Somerset, a Vauhall and a Standard 10 and perhaps others as well. Here is the Morris Minor series II. All had the characteristic hump in the roof.

"Did anyone ever tell you that you were an compulsive-obsessive?" Yes, and I keep a list of their names, you are number 42 Christopher. Matthew. |

Matthew, To show that you are not alone in your compulsiveness attached is a picture of my collection. I admire the neatness and composition of your collection. I'm afraid I need a bigger cabinet for the same effect..... The cause of my lack of space is my wife's collection of racing car models and memorabilia in the left side of the cabinet, so I guess things could be worse? |

Yes, this collecting thing really is a mania of sorts but at least I stick to 1:43 scale although there are 2000 and counting over the last 60 years. Christopher Couper: Doepke did not do a MGTF but did do a lovely Jaguar XK120 roadster. |

Moss USA lists one in their T catalog, but it is pretty spendy. |
Jack Long |
Wow. I take it back. Compared to John Q, Matthew is not even in the running for C-O. :-) And Willem you have some catching up to do too but it appears your wife is helping (but I cry fowl). |
Christopher Couper |
Hey LaVerne, I'll take the Maroon one, all I'd have to do is paint the fenders Black! LOL. PJ |

Find me a BRG one and I'd be happy to trade :-) |

Great collections Willem and John! Keep the photos coming guys. Matthew. |

LaVerne, I have a Green one, but it was given to me by my son and I can't part with it. PJ |

Here are some pictures of the SE Finecast TF http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/4/t/169122.aspx |

The Finecast looks like a nice model. Bit odd that the rear bumper & number plate assembly is upside-down in the example shown. Matthew. |

There is a fellow in the February 2016 Sacred Octagon named Jerry Powarski. He is selling off his huge collection of MG collectibles. He is in the states, but would be worth a call. 716-896-6663 |
