MG TD TF 1500 - TF Paint
Was the inter firewall and under the dash area painted to match the cars exterior, or interior. Mine seems to be in a red primer. PJ |

Inside of firewall and the rest of interior was painted the same as exterior body color from what I have observed on my own car. As Matthew mentioned the area under the scuttle and crash pad as well as the dash itself were painted the color of the interior (see the Original mgtf midget website) |

If it helps, my 1953 TD has the underside of the horizontal surface that the rear-view mirror is fixed on in black-grey primer. The rest of the footwell etc. area is painted the same colour as the exterior. Whilst that might not be original, I've now found some green paint under there, which matches more that I've discovered under the horn brackets and ties-up with the first log-book, which has the car orginally registered as green. You might wonder what I'm doing removing the horn brackets but, in the preparations for the rewire, I decided to rub-down and touch-up some rough paint and surface rust - and (as you all know) one thing leads to another ........ Lovely day here. First to top 28C (82F) this year. About time, it's been a mare of a winter. Regards, - Tom. |

Here is an image showing the original almond green paint on the back of firewall, etc. on my car. Note the different green (the color of the dash) under the scuttle between where the dash goes and the crash pad. Hope this helps. JB |
