MG TD TF 1500 - TF Restoration Images
Back in late 2005 I received a whole lot of images from LaVerne that he had taken while doing the restoration of his TF. The other night when I was creating the webpage about his anti-sway bar I thought about his image file. I recently found a program (Mihos) that can readily and quickly reduce the size of images in a file. LaVerne's has about 190 as I recall. I applied the shrinkage program and put the image file on Ttalk using Front Page's Photo Gallery. The images , as received from LaVerne, were not in any particular order and are not identified, but you and I can appreciate the efforts that are involved. It's particularly easy to see how he emulated gordon's steering wheel wood. They're at http://www.ttalk.info/LaVerneTF.htm . Enjoy, Bud |

Very nice collection, LaVerne. Thanks for posting them Bud. I'm always fascinated at the order in which we assemble our cars... basically the same, but with subtle differences depending on what is done and what we have on hand, and even what just seems right and logical. warmly, dave |

If I was listing the most important things to do in a restoration, my very first on the list would be: Take 100 photos of the car as you got it... photograph every single area of the car. Take photos in 'closeup' mode of every nut and bolt and screw. When reassembling, its amazing how something simple is now unknown as to the way it goes together. I have looked at all of mine and Daves many times to get hints... I didn't do nearly enough on the Wolseley and little (?) things like which way rubber door molding faces is now a puzzle.... where did that chrome strip that looks just like 4 others fit, etc. etc. Its amazing how a simple shot of the car with the door open will show you some detail of the carpet, or whatever, you will need later!!!! |

I'm a little embarrased as it was really just a hodgepodge of pictures that I burduned Bud with. I probably have 4 times what I sent to Bud. I keep thinking I should get them all in order and write a description of what was going on but Dave has really set the bar so high with his site I don't see much value in it. One of the main reasons for the photos in the begining was for the very reasons Gordon described. Tearing the car down is easy. Remembering which way they go back together can sometimes be very challenging. Even with the photos a car like this TF which despite the pictures was really only half together when I got it and a lot of that was wrong. |

LaVerne; I remember you relating your use of the front end loader to help install the front springs-took me a minute to realize what the Ford was doing in those pics. Creative use of the equipment at hand,I would say. Particularly like watching you guys build steering wheels - if I can't weld it,mill it,or set it up in surface grinder then it's rocket science to me. Thanks for submitting the photos - good to have TF pics to remind of the important differences between it and the TDs. Kudos to Bud once again for his efforts in making so much info readily available to all. Dan |

LaVerne, If you ever want to create / host a site 'like mine' I would help. I've often wanted to highlight the differences between the TD and the TF, but I don't know enough of them. I would need an 'expert's' help. warmly, dave ps: I take issue with 'setting the bar so high'. There are a lot of pictures I wish I had taken. I really like your collection. |

Hi Bud: I could use software like the Mihos one that you mentioned but can not find it on the net. Would you send me the details off list? Thnks Jc |

Check http://www.imageresizer.com/. It's a tremendous, free, program that I've had no problems with. You can make a donation to its creator. |

Bud - Thank you for the link to the Mihos image resizer. We always resize the pictures that we take and being to do it as a batch will save countless hours when we are traveling and shooting all sorts of pictures. Thank you also for the ttalk site, it is a wonderful resource for anyone with a T series car. Cheers - Dave |
