MG TD TF 1500 - TF steering wheel colour radiator colour
I have a 43 thousand mile TF 1250 that came in very good
unrestored condition that also runs well. Car number 5979 With all matching numbers. My question is that I have run into two anomalys. First, the steering wheel center piece is painted dash red. I have restored many cars and it looks like it has never been any other colour. The car is black with a red interior all stock colours and does not show signs of being repainted until now. All guidance seem to say it should be the dash gold colour. I have included a picture. Second, the front radiator panels were also painted dash red and appeared to always have been that colour. As before all guidance was that they should be black. I first painted them red but have since changed them because I could find no confirmation that red was ever used although I still think it was always red. I have included a picture of it painted the copy of the factory red I painted first. Anyone have any ideas. For some reason I could only load one picture. |

Originally on TFs,the centre steering wheel piece as depicted in PJs photo, and also the radiator panels were black. It looks like a Pow at some stage was 'creative' and decided to match the centre steering wheel with the lace up red steering wheel cover ! At least your TF's dash panel is red. Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

I have cleaned up the wheel center and it was indeed the gold colour. Thanks to those who gave advice. |
