MG TD TF 1500 - TF Warning Lamp Positions
I have two TF schematics that show the petrol warning lamp (blue) in the middle of the TF instrument cluster panel, but also have seen two or three restorations where the blue lamp is on the left side of the panel with the ign lamp (red) in the center. Which is correct? thanks much, Tyler |

Thanks Paul, I used your dash photo (and others) in the past to guide my restoration. But why the discrepancy in the schematics (one of them is Bentley)? I need to nail this down. Tyler |

Not sure but, right and left hand drive might make a difference on light location. I'm sure some of the guys here will know for sure. PJ |

Tyler here is a link to an original survivor that shows the same set up as Paul has which is the same as I did. http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/TF9052/Thumbnails/mgtf_tf9052.htm Here is another and I find it interesting that the RHD still had the lights in the same position. http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/Unrestored/Thumbnails/mgtf_gallery_unrestored.htm and yet another purported original http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/TF6688/mgtf_tf6688.htm And one more...all showing the same position http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/TF7472/Thumbnails/mgtf_tf7472.htm |

Put them where it suits you best. I've got a smaller steering wheel on my RHD TF and I found that with the indicator lamp on the right it was obscured by my hand. So now it's on the left, with ignition in the middle and low fuel on the right. David |

thanks LaVerne, That's good enough for me. That's the way they're going in. Couldn't locate another grounding bracket (other post), so will make one. thanks again, Tyler |
Tyler Irwin |
You need one for one of the warning lamps? I may have an extra |

Tyler I might have one also, if LaVerne can't find his Tom '54 TF |

If this is what you need Tyler let me know and I'll send it off to you or maybe somebody up here will be headed the gathering in Farmington and can bring it down . I haven't heard from anybody around here that is attending though.

In the General information page in the WSM it says :- Centre RED Ignition warning Left Blue Fuel warning Right Green Indicator warning. I have the Fuel and Ignition L and R and the indicator centre. I am tall enough for the centre one to be obscured by the cowl top and the IGN/Fuel are important and I can see the indicators anyway. Ray TF 2884 |

Thanks LV and Tom. LV, please send it down if someone is coming to the Farmington Rendezvous; otherwise, slip in in the mail. Shoot me an email for address. Would you happen to have two 3BA nuts? I'm short that many for attaching a gauge to the back of the cluster panel. Working on the seats today. thanks, Tyler |

Need your address Tyler. I sent an email. |
