MG TD TF 1500 - TF Wiper Motor Switch

I just cleaned the wiper cables and outer housings along with the individual gear drives. Everything works like new! But, even though the switch works very well, it won't stay in the off position. Being spring loaded to hold it in the on position, when I push it in to shut it off, it pops right back out. What am I missing here? I see no detent on the shaft or tapered actuator for opening the switch and I can not see anything missing. As I said, the system works beautifully, it just won't stay in the off position! Any clues? Hi Paul,
Push in mid point of wipe, while pushed in turn to park position. It will then stay off.
It is also a good idea to wire in an interrupter switch, you don't want your arm through the steering wheel while cornering.

Thanks Ray, I saw the notched end but thought it was just to lock the shaft to the drive gear never realizing pushing it in and turning it held it off. It's hard to believe just how basic the switch is and I'm surprised it still works. PJ

IMHO:
The real circus is getting them "in-sync".
At some point mine got changed so the "engage motor" switch was on the passenger side. Maybe done on purpose?
As I run lockable glove box doors on my TF I ended up wiring a simple toggle switch under the dash so I don't have to take a glove box door off to operate the wipers.
