MG TD TF 1500 - Thread size
Hey Folks, can anyone tell me the thread size on the 2 screws that hold the thermostat elbow in place? Thanks, Tom |
Thomas McNamara |
All the engine bolts are French Standard metric, so it's either 6 x 1.0 mm or 8 x 1.0 mm but with Whitworth heads 6 x 1.0 mm can be replaced by an ISO M6 and the 8 x 1.9 by a fin thread metric but the head will be wrong |

don, i think tom is asking about those very small screws that hold the bypass elbow..they are similar in size to a #6 screw..but i do not know the size. moss #323-040 for $.50 a set. is that correct tom??? regards, tom |

Yes Tom, you are correct. They are almost #10, but the're not. I wish to replace the elbow with a newer one along with the screws. The issue is that if I go to Moss, I'll pay 5 or 6 bucks shipping for $1.00 worth of screws. Regards, Tom |

If they are close to # 10 then they are 2BA, try Abingdon Spares. Otherwise you can use 10-32 |

And... they are 3/4 inch long. Cheese head with a slot. As Don says, 10-32 will fit. The AS number is 7-66. warmly, dave |

A 10-32 is a bit larger in diameter than a 2BA and will enlarge the hole a bit to where the original 2BA screws will be sloppy in the holes. The coil housing to pump body on a MGB fuel pump are 2BA cheese head screws that are very close to 3/4" long and would be the way to go if AS is out of the screws. They are also available (or used to be) from Moss under P/N 323-040. Cheers - Dave |

Tom, I can send you 2 2BA screws....send me your snail mail. Terry |
