MG TD TF 1500 - Too much wood?

Think I'm done playing with the walnut.

LaVerne

Well, at our age, I don't think you can ever have to much wood. Looks great Laverne
Bruce Cunha

Nothing like hardwood eh Bruce?
LaVerne

Dear me, its sad to see old men regress :)

I'm going to start picking out wood for my wheel soon!

Geoff Baker

You forgot the gear shift knob :-)
Chris Couper

Have you ever seen a TF with a full-wood boat-tail like some of the old Hispano Suiza's?

No? Neither have I.

Are you up to it LaVerne?

Matthew.
Matthew Magilton

...a good use for left over steering wheel wood.....

gblawson(gordon- TD27667)

I've got a knob laying out in the shop I turned...don't go there Bruce. Suppose I could do the E brake handle as well lol.

No boat tails Matthew but if I were a lot younger and the right car showed up I'm thinking a woodie pick up is do able.

Are the glove box doors hinged and if so, how?
P. Hejmanowski

Ok, you asked for it, The wood roadster. Just hope he does not live in termite country

LaVerne, You are definitely in the wrong business...I had the misfortune of having to buy a number of caskets in the last few years. They averaged about $3000 apiece and your work is much nicer!!
Steven Tobias

In our age group one can never have "too much wood".
What the heck ....go for the "knob"!
David Sheward

You get all that "wood" then what are ya gonna do with it Dave? I mean you can only polish it so much right?

Thanks Steven, I know what ya mean about too many of those lately. Thought about building my own once but I'm leaning towards a cardboard box. I hate to see good wood go to waste.

No springs P.H. Just some clips on the bottom and the bar latch lock on the tops. Inside edge is routed to match the opening. I could have done a better job but it's done.

Trying to figure out where I can mount a cigarette lighter and a outlet for the cell/gps. Rewiring the wiper ground through a toggle switch right now instead of that cheesy knob job. Same with the heater..out with the rheostat and through a toggle switch.
LaVerne

LaVerne,
Pretty sure I still have the cad dwg of the one I had made. Bolts to bottom of the dash center brace. Could change the "holes" around and see if the supplier could make another one. If he is still in business. Anadized alum with engraved type.
Let me know if any interest.
I'm sure I still have cad drawing ...somewhere.
The fun thing would be to get some more of them out there.
30 years from now people will be on here trying to fiqure out if it was a "factory option". LOL
