MG TD TF 1500 - Turn Signal Wiring

I finally got the correct parts (off e-Bay) to upgrade my 52 TD with turn signals using the relay and original style switch.
All works okay except the (added) dashboard indicator light. The light is full on with the switch in center off postion, ignition on, and blinks opposite phase to the lamps when the swittch is activated in either direction.
With my voltmeter, I get 12 v from the x terminal on the flasher (pale green wire removed), and also 12 v from the # 1 post of the relay box. Voltage dips to less than half as the lamps illuminate.

Is it me, Lucas, or the (probably Chinese) manufacturer of the non-standard 3 terminal flasher?

Andy,

Can't help you on the wiring, but I have a thought for you while you're installing the system. I have a 50 TD that had the signal added by the previous owner. It works fine, except that I always forget to turn the thing off! I'm thinking of adding a beeper in parallel with the light. I haven't even started to look for parts yet, but think that the job should be simple enough.

I have a working vacuum cancelling switch, which turns itself off after about 10 seconds.
On my Mini, though, the cancelling stud on the steering column doesn't work, so I just installed a 12v Radio Shack beeper on the warning light terminal and to ground, and it works fine.

Still no ideas on my TD wiring?

Andy - I asume that you have wired your turn signals as per the schematic in the shop manual. Do you have the dual filiment socket and bulbs in your side lights? If everything si wired per the shop manual and there are dual filiment bulbs in the side lights, then my guess that it is the flasher you are using. You might try diferent hookups with the wires to the flasher. If that doesn't work, then you are probably stuck with getting a proper flasher from Moss or Abingdon. Good luck - Dave
