Fellas Anyone know anything concerning product quality from this firm advertising on Ebay UK. They manufacture a kit for both positive and negative earth MGs of this vintage. Thanks Graeme |

Hello friends, the best distributor I know ist the 1-2-3 ignition, made in the netherlands. I use it since a halve year. Do you know this in America? If not, look www.123ignition.nl. He converts your original distributor to positiv or negativ earth. The price is 375 Euro. If you want to held your distributor than additional 150 Euro. He is a good fellow, because he drives MG hisself. Regards Klaus |

Klaus, We have a similar chap in America who rebuilds distributors for classic cars and especially English cars. He adds new bearings and generally, his work is outstanding and comes highly recommended. But he doesn't charge European prices, usually less than $125 USD (> €80) for a 4-cylinder rebuild. I have a 123 distributor in my MG midget vintage racer. It is an excellent replacement (not a rebuild). It is scratch-made from billet and uses sturdy Bosch rotors and distributor caps (I think mine were from a Volvo), rather than the flimsy caps and poor quality Lucas aftermarket stuff that has been the bane of our cars for some time. It is an electronic setup that has a number of pre-set curves that you choose from on installation. It is a fantastic distributor, and, in my experience, much more durable than a Petronix. Especially in the racing environment. It is far from original, however, as the "look" of the distributor is different and the Bosch cap is a reddish color instead of the usual black. |
