MG TD TF 1500 - Unkown Bracket
In one of my parts boxes, I found this bracket. It has MOWOG on one side and BTB 396RH 10A on the other. My guess would be a right hand headlamp bracket for early (prewar maybe) MG. Any ideas? Marvin |

Looks like a steering arm to me. |

Certainly looks like a steering arm, but more than likely not a TD/TF model; looks like it is from MGB. |

Sure looks like a steering arm, but the TD, TF and MGB are all rack & pinion and do not use a steering arm. |

check MGB steering arm Moss #264460/470. It sure looks like it. Sandy |

I looks like an engine steadying arm for the extremely rare Costello V-8, TD. |

Steering arm, MGB. Cheers - Dave |

Is everyone positive that the bracket shown is an MGB steering arm? Thanks, Marvin |

"Is everyone positive that the bracket shown is an MGB steering arm?" I am. Cheers - Dave |

I agree with Dave W,,, but to further his explaination, the number BTB 396RH 10A indicates that it is for the right hand side,,,, sooo for proper inastalation of the V-8, you will need BTB 396LH 10A for the left hand side !! I think I might have one in one of my parts boxes,,, SPW |

Now that we know what it is, an MGB steering bracket, can anyone use it? Marvin |

Here it is gentlemen, straight from the MGB parts catalog. Dave W. & Steve W. - The engine steadying arms for the extremely rare Costello V-8, TD would be P/Ns BTB 396RH-BS and BTB 396LH-BS, with particular emphasis on the BS :-)) Cheers - Dave

Whilst doing the wire wheel conversion on the 70 MGB I located four of those very scarce pieces in my very own garage, two lefts and two rights. I was completely clueless as to their rarity, and was even considering not separating the ball joints from two of them. Now on further reflection I intend to offer them up on ebay with a starting bid of $1000.00 each, due to the extreme scarcity of the aforementioned Costello V-8 TD. Or perhaps, instead I'll even try to build a replica of the impossible to find Costello V-8 TD by utilizing the rare but seemingly incredible barn-find in my garage of the two engine steadies as a jumping off point. warmly, dave |

Dave B. - You have a gold mine there ;-) You should be able to retire in style once those things sell. Cheers - Dave D. |
