MG TD TF 1500 - Using the wiring harness straps properly
The Moss part 161-800 is a brass wiring strap with 2 oblong openings. In replacing the worn and not original straps on the TD, is there any special way to use the 2 oblong opening in strapping a some wiring to a brace, or the temperature cable to the radiator support so that it looks original? The ones one the car were just wrapped once around and through the obvious opening, but might look better another way if anyone knows of one. Or is overthinking this taking place? Thanks guys...Rich O. |

Wrap the tail around the wiring harness and through the 2nd oblong slot. Then wrap again around the support and through the first slot. Then fold the tail back on itself. |

Thanks Lew, completed this using the oblong slot closest to the tail as the 2nd slot, and the slot that is at the end of the entire strap as the 1st slot. Worked well. |

Rich, can you post a picture of the strap installed. My PO used a lot of really ugly tape and I'd never noticed the Moss 160-800 (item 46 on page 44). Thanks. Jud |

I used photos of unrestored TF9052 as reference for location and technique when I secured wiring and cables in the engine compartment of my TF-1500. Had to study the photos for a while to understand how to run the wrap around the cable, then secure to the support. Numerous photos of wiring wraps in "Engine Compartment Pictures": http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtf/Pictures/TF9052/Thumbnails/mgtf_tf9052.htm Thanks to Frank Cronin and to Chris Couper for making this wonderful reference available. Lonnie TF7211 Bend the BLUE up and around the cable, then follow the RED path to lock into place. Cut off excess as required. |

Good job that Moss is now carrying them. My 1934 PA calls for 20 of them, so I sat down one day with a stock of brass sheet and cut out...
