MG TD TF 1500 - VACCUM BRAKE BLEED WITH SPEED BLEEERS
HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCE BLEEDING BRAKES VIA VACCUM WITH SPEED BLEEDER SCREWS IN PLACE |

Jon, are you talking of applying an external vacuum to the opened bleeder rather than pressing the brake pedal to bleed out the brake fluid?
For a lot of years I've bleed them by putting a piece of tubing over the nipple, crack the bleeder open and pumped the pedal to bleed the old fluid out into a container. Then I just tighten down the bleeder, add a little fluid to the master cylinder and go on to the next brake cylinder. I've never considered applying a vacuum to the nipple. I see that as adding complexity to a simple system. Bud BTW, Jon, I just had my other knee replaced. |

Jon I am currently trying to bleed a completely rebuilt system; New master and wheel cylinders with silicone fluid. I am using a MityVac vacuum pump but manually working the bleeders.
I didn't prime any of the cylinders before starting the process. There is still a lot of air coming through so I think there's a lot of air to purge. I am being patient hitting them all once a day for three days so far. I'm tempted to do the pedal method but reluctant because of the silicone fluid. Has anyone else used this method? Thanks JAP |

I tried one of those vacuum bleeders, but found after sucking about a litre of brake build though I was sucking air in at the bleed nipple. The treads don't form a tight enough seal. |

I've always been able to bleed silicone fluid using the conventional method of pedal pumping. Even been able to do it single handedly using a stick to hold the pedal down. |
