MG TD TF 1500 - What happened to Raj's thread?
If it got deleted because of something I wrote I sincerely apologize... Gene |

I don't know but here's the link http://coolridesonline.net/news-and-blog/2011ROY.aspx |

Deleting an entire 300-something thread because of a few bad remarks would be unbelievably silly on the admin's part. I hope that isn't the case. |

Producing 'the longest thread ever' was part of the fun... |

Greg's 1967 Chevy Camaro RS 31.24% Raj's 1952 MG TDMK II 26.13% Come on, Administrator (Mike?) please give us back the thread. I also apologies for taunting the YB's yesterday evening. I can live with you banning the YB's but don't take away 'the longest thread'. (BTW, I think the longest thread was the 'Wales' thread on the midget BBS that ran for 591 posts in 2004) |
Willem vd Veer |
Of course I meant Raj's thread on the T-series TD-TF BBS. But I'm with you: please give us back Raj's thread, if only for the couple of days left until Feb 19...by then it's all forgiven and history... |
JL Nederhoed |
Also remember to vote for Gene Gillam's TC for Feb. ride of the month. Real close battle. Sweet looking TC. Bill |

There's a new nr. 3, which is really odd because our YB friends were calling to support Shawn's Vega as he is a YB'er, too. Imagine them winning and losing at the same time..... Greg's 1967 Chevy Camaro RS 31.42% Raj's 1952 MG TDMK II 26.31% Brian's 1977 Pontiac Trans Am 16.07% Shawn's 1972 Chevy Vega Kammback 15.75% On the YB-forum someone suggested I was to be invited, hopefully for some good natured banter. I sure would have liked to but I'm afraid I have the wrong car: a 1950 MG YA. I may have had a chance if it was a 1952 MG YB, but alas that is not to happen before the 19th. |

This is it folks - the last couple of days. Please cast your votes. I really appreciate the friendship and pride in our community. Thanks, Raj PS - Gene's car needs our votes too. |

Mike, you're right. Now Raj is able to add the 399-thread to the provenance of the car. 2 days to go, 26,46% at #2. Keep on voting! Jasper |

26,92% vs 31,36% Well, I've voted 30 times. Solid on #2. Given the specific circumstances we all should be very proud with this result. Jasper |

26.94% Considering everything a really good result. Nice going Raj. No matter how it was done ...congratulations to first place as well, you did manage to rally support. |
Brian Smith (1950 TD3376) |
Congratulations, Raj! I read your story "Limb from above" and love to hear more about the contest. We'll keep in touch. Kind regards, Marjolein |
M. van Gessel-Bannink |
Raj, I have voted every day since I was advised about the start of this particular voting contest. I had done the same for your November competition. This has been a lot of fun, rewarding, and, "enlightening," as well! Lets us know of any pertinent follow-up to the event. I hope you are rewarded with some type recognition. Continued good luck and Safety Fast! Jerry |
Jerry Chandler |
Thank you everyone. If you have not voted, please do so. I saw us slip a couple of points this evening. Thanks, Raj |
R Thadani |
Raj, You fought the good fight...I put in my votes for you, just wish there could have been more of them. Gene |
Gene Gillam |
THE POLLS ARE CLOSED! We took second place. Thank you everyone for taking the interest in making the place of our marque known. I think we rattled a few along the way, but it was all in good fun. I hope our friends at Yellowbullet will still honk when they see us on the roads come Spring. I will post all the details and pictures once I get them. And, in exchange for the $100 gift card, I will donate a $100 to a charity - like the International Red Cross?? If the members of this community wish to select a different charity, then lets have (another) poll! This competition sure brought us some winter time entertainment and I apologize to those who found it annoying. In the end, it was all just fun. Thank you! Raj PS - We need to continue our support for Gene's TC. Please vote here: http://tinyurl.com/yfv6xpa |
R Thadani |
When one considers the number of TD's built compaired to the number of Camaro's made ...an impresive showing! ("built" 60 years ago by people vs "made" by machines 30 years ago!) When you take into consideration admideded "over voting" ("voted on all the computers at Best-By and am headed for the Apple store & internet cafe to do the same"...as stated on another site)...certainly more than impresive! Looks like I will have some extra time on my hands only voting for one car with my morning coffee. Well done! |
David Sheward |
Kudos for doing so well! Second place by only about 3.5% is a fantastic showing for such a relatively obscure old car. Must have been over a thousand votes, perhaps multi-thousand in that contest. A whole heck of a lot of people must have liked your car as much as we did. |
Steve S |
Raj, Congratulations with a brilliant second place. Personally I'm not convinced that the TD was the coolest car of the bunch, but we have to stand behind the marque, don't we? I didn't vote in November but this time you succeeded in sucking me into the competition. I would really want to know how many votes were put in. Maybe Raj can ask the organizers? This was all very enjoyable and I was amazed by the reaction of the YB forum, I hope they've cooled down a bit and I congratulate them with the first place. I'll keep voting for Gene's car, but won't support other MG's in that competition; it becomes an obsession! |
Willem vd Veer |
Raj, besides winning, I think the whole thing really increased the sense of community here - it was great fun and created a lot of communication. I guess it would be interesting to see how we would fare in a competition with similar type cars (maybe even within the broader forum here ;-). But letīs not go there.... Mike |
Mike Fritsch |
Raj, you asked for other suggestions for the gift card and as a eveyday voter I like to come up with a target that's very close to all of us. Like me, many others have used the tremendous work of Dave Braun: whatever TD topic, it is on his photosite and many ponding questions could be answered from there. On his homepage http://www.dbraun99.com/ is a message regarding the Paypal way to make a contribution to keep the website http://www.dbraun99.com/mgtd15470/ online. Greetings, huib |
Huib Bruijstens |
Raj, congrats with your TD and #2. It was a tough race but very fun to participate. Jasper |
JL Nederhoed |
Let's focus in Gene's entry now. |
Mort 1950 TD1851 Mobius |
I know that years ago John Twist (University Motors) supported a charity for the desease "MG". (no...not the one we all have) That would be most fitting! If interested I could contact John for details? |
David Sheward |
I agree with Huib on supporting Dave's web site. |
Mort 1950 TD1851 Mobius |
Dave's website as a charity sounds good to me, too. |
Willem vd Veer |
I'll second that motion. Bud |
Bud Krueger |
Same from my side Mike |
Mike Fritsch |
My vote goes to Dave's website. Jasper |
JL Nederhoed |
I don't know Dave or his website, maybe I will sometime. Great to see you all "united". |
M. van Gessel-Bannink |
Marjolein, Look at http://www.dbraun99.com/mgtd15470/ Jasper |
JL Nederhoed |
So the popular choice is Dave's website. I have been a user and supporter and have contributed to Dave's site before. I will send $100 his way as soon as I receive the gift card. It's great to get all this support and then be able to share the reward within our community. More information and pictures to follow. Thanks you, Raj |
R Thadani |
Raj...I'm sure that your support of Dave's site will ensure that future TD owners and restorers will continue to have access to a wonderful library of visual information. |
Gene Gillam |
Gentlemen, I'm pretty humbled by your mutual decision to send the $100 to fund the http://www.dbraun99.com/mgtd15470/ website. I guess not so much for the donation, although it is by far the largest I've ever recieved, but by the sentiment that quite a few of you feel the work has made a difference in your own work and restorations of your TDs. I'm a bit overwhelmed, as I believe there are a lot of people who contribute to the hobby more than I do. I stopped reading this thread right after the polls closed... so I had no idea until Raj posted the money to my account today that 'Tommy's' site was considered. As you might know, until I found my permanent site and started asking for donations, I actually lost the site several times during the restoration when 'free' hosts went under and took the files to display the project with their dimise. So I've persevered and wrote the site three times along the way. I almost didn't write it again the final time. And of course, websites not being my main gig, has meant that I've screwed it up once or three times myself! Thanks a bunch to all of you for selecting my effort to fulfill Raj's desire to donate his prize money. warmly, dave |
Dave Braun |
I am fully in agreement with the idea to donate the money to Dave Braun for his website. I had my TD and TF done before I found out about his website. I have viewed parts of it and it is very comprehensive. This will hopefully encourage him to keep the website going. Websites cost money. Sincerely, Bob |
Bob Jeffers |
Hello Everyone, Here is a final update on the Cool Rides Ride of the Year competition. I received the glass plaque and the goodies. See attached pictures. As agreed by us all I sent the $100 winnings to Dave Braun for the upkeep of his excellent website. Dave and I spoke subsequently and agreed that we belong to a wonderful community of folks that have been brought together by our common interest. He was touched by our support and with all modesty didn't believe his site contributed as much as it truly does. As for me, I am still amazed at the support and enthusiasm we share for our marque. To all my friends in the USA and Europe - a heart felt thanks for making this a lot of fun. Regards, Raj |
