MG TD TF 1500 - What was this?
On the exhaust side of the cowling of my 51 TD, at the bottom, there is this ring of welded metal. Looks like it was meant to hold something (about the size of a coil). Anybody have any ideas what it might have been for? Just curious... |

My guess would be a spare fuel pump. Right side for it, wrong side for a coil. |

Radiator overflow tank? Oil can, like some TC's? Tom Lange |

Location looks right for an extra fuel pump ....but the hoop looks too small? Does it look like there may have been another one on other side at some time? My Guess: Held a broom stick / dowel rod as a bonnet prop? |

Prototype of underbonnet beverage holder. Well situated for bringing beer up to its proper temperature for consumption. Also used in emergencies for warming tea. Nice example of a rare accessory. Is it for sale? |

Dan, I don't think you can afford a unique period accessory like this one. I'll be putting it up on ebay - along with a couple of bridges I have for sale. |

In line with Dan's thinking, since it is right next to the heater hoses it must be a holder to keep your coffee hot. Jim |

Definitely not a factory installation. I like the idea of an after market, under the bonnet, adjustable, coffee cup holder. George |
