MG TD TF 1500 - What's Your Favorite Gift, Just One!

My wife bought me a set of Whitworth tools! She said she was tired of hearing me complain that I didn't have any and was to cheap to buy them! IT WORKED!!! (Big Grin). PJ

Does it have to be something we allready "got" ...or something we haven't "unwrapped" yet?

I'm thinking ....

But tools would be nice also!

David Sheward

My needs are simple - I'd settle for some high-speed aerial executive transport.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Dave

Merry Christmas All!

PJ I think you are a master at working the "system".

Dave J, whose bautiful staqgger wing Beech is that? What a prize that is! My first ride was in one of those many years ago that hooked me into aviation for life.
Jim Merz

Jim - this biplane is actually a Waco "C" series - the big, lovable, half-ton truck of the skies. Don't know where the picture's from; it's one of those I picked up on my cruises for T-series pictures across the whole net.

A Staggerwing runs with negative stagger, so the bottom wing is forward of the top wing. Very sexy and really fast for its time. Unfortunately, both waay beyond my price range - pictures will have to do, I guess.

But at least we have the T-half of the picture, and that's a good thing, too.

Cheers,
Dave

Little T got a new SU electronic fuel pump; one more piece of a very big puzzle.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hos about a nice SS100 replica with 4.2 liter six in a row as a daily driver and highway cruiser? Check it out on ss100.com

Jan
Jan Kristoffersen

Jan, Am I reading this right, The SS100 replica can be bought in kit form to assemble in ones own shop? What, if it be known, would the cost be for the essentials? What Jag engine and drive train are they using? PJ
P Jennings

I believe they use chassis and drivetrain from ca 1970 Jaguar Sedans. Body is fibreglass, detail work is fantastic. Fullt assembled in Suffolk it willsetyou back some 75.000 GBP. As the chassis is 40 years old an SS 100 replica will have vintage car status and can be imported avoiding all new vehicles regulations and taxes. According to Their web page they also sell kits if you supply the chassis/drivetrain yourselves

Try the www.suffolkjaguar.com site. All the info and prices are there.

My favorite gift this Christmas? That is an easy one. On Christmas Eve my Grandaughter and Grandson were broadsided by some girl who ran a redlight. Both cars were totaled, but my kids were unharmed. Bruised and shaken, but not hurt. My Grandson was upset because his old reliable Barbour, his favorite coat, was messed up. Hondas and Barbours can be replaced, but not loved ones.
Larry Brown

Larry, Thank the good Lord that their OK! Horrible to think otherwise. Happy New Year. PJ
P Jennings

Kinda partial to this gift. First grandbaby came just before the holiday-no contest for us on the best gift. Best wishes for the New Year to you all. Dan

Santa brought me the exact amount of the deposit I needed to puchase one of Manley Ford's mandral bent extractors for my XPEG rebuild. And mom and dad came through with a $100 gift certificate to Autosport Seattle who's doing the machine work on the block. WOO HOO. I must have REALLY been high on the nice list this year!

Mine is simple, but turned out to be actually kind of neat. I got a Black & Decker ratcheting ready wrench

http://www.blackanddecker.com/power-tools/RRW100.aspx

Interesting tool. At first I thought it was another of those things that your wife gets that she thinks is a great tool but is really a piece of junk. (last year she gave me a motor driven crescent wrench. I don't believe I have removed it from the package yet.)

For giggles, I took this out to the shop to find that it not only works really well, but fits, American, Metric and yes, Whitworth bolts. It fits in the tool box of the TD nicely and it will replace a lot of sockets.
Bruce Cunha

Bruce.
I , and others would love to see a photo of that motor driven crescent wrench.
Maybe a motor driven WENCH.
ss sanders

At my age, the least useful Christmas gift would be a motor driven WENCH. I could only wimper in my half full can of beer.
Jim Merz

It's okay Jim. Memory loss is definitely the SECOND sign of old age.

I too would like to see a photo of a Motor Driven Wench...although we have a couple ladies in the club who might fall into that category.... one who owns a lovely B just bought a Mini Cooper 'Werks' model and no longer can be caught.....

Here is the B&D auto adjusting WRENCH

Hands down ...Larry & Dan had the best Christmas!
David Sheward

Well said Dave! That's an easy statement to agree with. PJ
P Jennings

Bruce,
Have you tried that ratcheting readywrench on a real live bolt that you needed to remove yet? I saw those and their infinite variations for sale and agreed with your first impression of a tool intended to be gifted, not used. The ones that I saw were all too bulky to fit onto real-world bolts. OTOH, the motor-driven crescent could be handy. I have an earlier variation of this by the actual Crescent company with a slide on the side of the handle to open and close the jaws. Works ok, but I generally have to open and close it every time I move the wrench from one set of flats to another, so it gets a bit tedious (more motivation to use the "right" tool, I suppose).

To All --- Just looked again at the picture Dan posted. Isn't it wonderful to be able to sleep like that?
I wish I could!! Beautiful child!!

Happy New Year to All On This BBS, may your winter be short and spring come early!!
Sincerely,
Bob

I did get some way cool signs from my son & daughters for the garage.
Hmmm now "Abingdon Knucklehead Hootersville North Anex".

David

I like the ashtray. Do you really smoke in your shop?
Bruce Cunha

Bruce,
I "opened" my "Motor Driven Wench" a long time ago...married her!
Daughter said she thought the Harley looked like "mom's" old bike. (actually it was a 58 panhead)

"Fine Beer" is a chalk board ...that's a little tin with some chalk in it. Just noticed ...normally it says "get more Beer" on the chalk board. I'd better write myself a note!
Bottom of the Stoogies sign "Not a paying customer in years".

Have safe and wonderfull New Year all!
