MG TD TF 1500 - Where to attach TF Wiring Harness at rear
Need recommendations on how and where to secure the harness at the rear of car - axle, frame, etc. |

Hello, The wiring loom at the rear of the car is for the break lights, the fuel sender, the side lights, the registration plate light and possibly the flashing indicators. You might also have a fuel pump. The best location for this part of the bundle is to attach it along the rear cross member. On my TD, all dispatch connections are secured to the lefthandside of the cross member and then run from there to the left fender and to the right fender along the rear cross member. Laurent. |

No wire is or should be attached to the axle. The loom runs along the inside of the frame and is held in place with some spring clips that pop into the frame. There are some additional "p" clips that also hold the loom in place...one at one of the shock bolts comes to mind and at least one one each side for the wires running up to the tail lights. Where the loom crosses to the other side there should be two of the odd flat brass ties that will secure it to the frame cross tube. I added a small "p" clip to the fuel sender wire and secured it to the bottom of the wooden tub. |

Hi Ron, check the "Original mgtf Gallery" website, this has photos of an untouched TF and shows everything clearly. Ray TF 2884 |
