MG TD TF 1500 - Windshield Frame Holes
What goes in the two center holes in the top of the windshield frame? Screws? Bolts? Sizes? Thanks.....

Bill, Chris Couper has the correct sizes. They are machine screws with pan heads and thinner nuts than I managed to find. They are used to secure the clips that hold the visible run of the wiper motor cable. I used the correct gauge of black and green automotive wiring - two separate wires - and covered it with grey heat shrink. See pic. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thanks, Peter.... Do you have a picture that shows the complete exterior run of the WS wiper motor wire? |
Bill Reid TD4618 |
Yep. Here you go. This shows where it exits the frame. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

And this shows where it enters. Maybe LHD cars are different? Not sure who owns this car. Pic taken about 10 years ago at a Concours in Sydney. Best to leave a bit more length here in case you decide to lay the screen flat. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

And a close up of the clips. These are easily made from stainless sheet. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter, possibly you can clear up a couple of points for me. Was the wiper motor (on early TDs) always located on the passengers side (with respect LHD and RHD)? When it was located on the left side (RHD cars) was there a hole in the scuttle on the left hand side of the car for the wiper motor power wire? On LHD cars there is a hole in the windscreen frame near the wiper motor for the power wire to exit the frame. Was this the same for RHD cars or is the exit hole located on the left side of the windscreen frame.

Tim I really have no knowledge of the differences between LHD and RHD cars except to say that you guys have the steering wheel on the wrong side :-) RHD arrangement is as per the pics I posted. Scuttle hole is near the right hand support. Chris Couper is the go to guy on this one. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter, I searched Chris' site but couldn't find what I was looking. I assume your car is RHD. Is the scuttle hole for the wiper wire on the right side? Tim BTW An Australian visits Los Angeles. He hears on the radio that someone on the same freeway he's on is driving the wrong way. He turns to his wife and says, "It's not just one bloke it's hundreds of them." |

Tim see the pic posted at 19:36 above. Right hand side. I'd heard that one as well only he was on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and he was a Yank. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thanks Peter. Well, at least it wasn't the outback where I understand you drive down the middle of the road lol. Tim Kings Cross Survivor 1969 |
