MG TD TF 1500 - Wing backing plates
I'm repairing my front wings, where the headlight bracket backing plates caused the fenders to rust through. I have welded in new metal and made new backing plates. I curious how others have secured the plates to the fenders? They appear to have been welded originally. I plan to use a automotive planel bonding adhesive prior to paint (after epoxy primer). This should keep moisture out from between the plate and fender. Any suggestions or comments? |

Evan They were probably spot welded originally, but your idea of using panel bonding adhesive sounds like a much better idea than welding, in fact I wonder whether these plates are really neccessary all they seem to do is trap water and rust through, and TD wings are quite strong anyway Harry |
