MG TD TF 1500 - Wiper Motor
I have a 54 TF 1500. The windshield motor won't switch on when current is applied. There are three wires to the motor -- one grounds the case and the other two go to the motor. Any suggestions on what to try. Where mitht I send it for repair. Would prefer the Seattle area. Thanks, Ben |

Never heard of a csse ground. Remove the wiper and case back, put a battery to the two connections, and see if it does anything. Flip the armature a few times with your finger to see if it's totally dead or just stuck with old grease. There is info in the archives about lubrication and repair. There are a couplwe of people out there to do everything from repairs to a full resto with repainting, chrome switch, etc.; see TSO if necessary. Tom |

What does your voltmeter tell you? The green wire should be 12 volts all the time (with the key ON). The other wire that goes to the terminals of the motor should have 12 volts on it when the motor is switched off, and zero volts when switched ON. If the voltmeter tells that these tests are OK then the trouble is in the motor or gear box. Good Luck, Bob |

Do Bob's test or if you don't have a volt meter then take the use a jumper wire and connect it to the opposite side of the green wire post on the wiper motor. With the key on ground the jumper wire to a known grouind and see if the wiper motor runs. If not then the problem is in the motor. If it runs then the problem is most likely the contacts in the switch. Check your fuse on that circuit first and also the hot to the motor either with a test light or the volt meter. |

Many thanks for the wiper suggestions. I'll get with it when the weather improves and my garage warms up. Tnhanks, Ben |
